I won!

(Happy Feet)

Wow! This hardly ever happens to me, but I won something in a lucky draw today!! Forgive me if I appear overreacting, but hey! I could not contain myself!

It's nothing big; this thing that I won. But the fact that my name was picked out during the lucky draw, makes me go, 'Really? Lil' ol' me got it??'. The feeling is just... surreal!

Yippeee! Thank you, Father God!

Decision

Hubby and I had finally made 'THE' decision that would start quite a journey. I finally had the guts to tell my loved ones over dinner. I had to make sure they almost finished the meal, because I have no idea how they would take it.

Since they had no inkling it was coming their way, they did not know how to react.

She knows I am a dreamer and asked "Is this still at the daydream stage?".

He knows once I have made a decision, it is pretty much set in stone. So, he did asked 'Why?' and ' How sure are you that you are making the right decision?'

I answered her, no this is no longer daydreaming stage but trying to make it come true.

Hubby explained the 'Why'.

I told him, 'Sometimes we make the right decisions, but sometimes, we just have to make the decision right'.

Isn't that how life is? As much as we would like make all the right decisions in life, we are not spared from making wrong ones. But a decision still has to be made.

Once made, we just have to give all that it takes to make it work.

No matter how hard.

Oh, the places you'll go!

(Movie- Up)

Don't Quit

For those out there who needs a little booster, just like I do, today. This one is for 'us'...

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

God's angels

I adore the angels that God sent me in the form of my friends.

When you don't feel like it, they can push  or pull you back, depending which way you're going.

When your thoughts are wired and set a certain way, and you're going 170km/hr headed to 'No Good Zone',  blinded by emotions, they have a way to pull you back.

All it takes usually is just a sentence. (Or two)

And that is usually good enough.

With just that sentence, they will pull you back.

Back to them.

Back to what is good.

To my angels, this is for you!

Word of the day

"If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world."

"We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love."

The little things...

...that makes my day.

Almost a year ago, while shopping at our local market, I saw this gorgeous plant. Without thinking much, I bought it. Didnt even ask the old fella who sold it, the basic question, eg. how to care for it, does it like sun much, or prefer shady area, that sort. I didnt even ask him what was it name. (Still do not know up till this day)

Happily I brought it home, transfered it into my pot, happily watered  and admired it. Two days later the flower started to wilt. Thinking, it would flower again (soon), it didnt bother me..

One week passed, then it turned into a month. Then it rolled into another month, still no bud in sight. In fact the leaves started to wilt too. By the fourth month I was sure the bulb had died. I wanted to pull it off but hubby said it was still 'Ok' , albeit a little miserable. He took it upon himself to water it daily.

Then couple of days ago, he was beaming and asked me to check out the 'Miserable Plant'. Aaah..Finally! The second bloom after almost a year!

Lovely isnt it?..

That aside, I love all sorts of plant, but not quite a cacti person. I happened to have one, but that is only because it was given to me by my grandmother. I planted it more that 9 years ago and pretty much left it be.

I am not sure what happened the last few days, was it the super hot weather, or was it really its life cycle that after more than 9 years, my cacti flowered.

Trust me, I have never seen it flowering before. I thought cacti just does what it does. Looking spiky and untouchable, ok, maybe bud a little here and there.

But nothing like this.

Wadaya know.. Its actually gorgeous..

My visual dessert

I was net surfing the other day and came across this new (at least to me) website called Housebeautiful.com.

Photos below are some that I love from the wonderful site..

I just love the looks of these spaces. They are so warm and cosy..

The beams in this space are just gorgeous. They add characters to these spaces. And that open- space kitchen with the gorgoeus dining table at the back,  *sigh*.  'Nuf said.

So I have a similar L-shaped brown sofa in my TV room. Mine is all brown 'everything' ~brown sofa, brown cushion, and brown throws~, and while I love it at first, after some time, it is getting boring. This picture inspired me that I could change the cushions covers to baby blue, just to give it a pop of colour.
White hydrangea as centerpiece.. Diih-viiine!

Don't ask me why I love this space. All I know is that my mouth would involuntarily went agaped when I saw this.  That is why I uploaded it... :)

The only thing similar that I have at home with this picture is the table.. While I love the beige chair covers and I think I can manage to sew their 'distant cousins' for my own chairs, I am not sure I can pull this concept off as my floor tiles are beige... Too 'beige'y even for my taste....

But it got me thinking.. If I laid a brown rug or one of those dark brown wooden mat, it might just break the 'sea of beige', don't you think?

Now, the only resemblance my bedroom has with this picture is the white bedsheet.. This picture made me want to crawl right through this monitor screen and into the bed.. So cosy, right?..

By the time I am done uploading these pictures, I have to resign to my fate that I am drawn to:
  • French white doors and windows
  • Natural wooden beams
  • Light colours curtains
  • Black iron wrought curtain rails
While the first 2 bullets would require major works, but I think I can manage to pull off the last two...

*Rubbing hands in excitement*
